REVIEW: Friday the 13th 2009

 

 

 

 

After watching the Platinum Dunes Remake of Friday the 13th I no longer think of the Hockey mask wearing, machete wielding zombie Jason, Ohh no what I find most memorable is the sex content, It’s Full of it.

As in most Slashers the people who have sex die right after the stoners, and the Friday the 13th remake is no exception.

As it is a remake of the first three films you find yourself having fun seeing bits of each movie and putting the pieces of a very cool story together to form a 2 parted movie. One other thing I found cool was all the different death scenes, it wasn’t repetitive which was good and the weapons/tools weren’t used in the same way each time, my favourite was the bear trap and the sleeping bag.

 unfortunately it didn’t have me on the edge of my seat, but I still had fun interacting with a few scenes – the occasional “Run Bitch, Run….”.

 It certainly deserves the Teen Choice Award for 2009’s Horror/Thriller Category. I would recommend it to any Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street fans, can’t wait to see what Platinum Dunes does to the Nightmare On Elm Street remake next year

Avatar Hitting the Screens this December

Apart from the HUGE amount of CGI I kind of like the look of it, I’ve looked the story up On imdb and I think it sounds good……in theory. Most movies sound good, but when actually made are a little less of what we expected. I like the work that James Cameron did on the early Terminator movies, so I hope for his sake and the sake of me buying a ticket that it exceeds my expectations.

The story goes that Earth’s Army have landed on a Planet called Pandora and the indigenous population – the Na’vi who are peaceful sentient humanoid race with blue skin and stand 3 meters tall with physical abilities way more advanced than our own. As the Marines encroach deeper and deeper into Na’vi territory in search of rare Minerals, the Na’vi start to fight back.

The main character Jake is an Ex-Marin who was injured on Earth and is now paralysed from the waist downwards, he is recruited to be a “Avatar” which is a biological suit that enables Jake to look and appear like a Na’vi but is able to operate wirelessly. As the story developes he begins to see things a different way and starts to help the Na’vi drive out the invading Force.

Wes Craven and his terrifying child murderer Freddy are Back in a Re-make of the First , originally made in ‘87. In the original movies Wes Craven says that he was disappointed at the Comical side of Freddy character, but in the New movie the Freddy as we all know and generally fear will be one hell of a lot more scarier.

The Film will be a remake of the First and is out early next year (May 20th – NZ). Also a number of updates have been made ot the content including, the scene where Nancy tries to call Quentin but he is asleep and the phone starts to ring a number of times before Nancy picks it up, and as you hear Freddy say “I’m your boyfriend now Nancy!” his tongue comes out of the phone and licks her. The Old wired phone will be replaced by a Cell phone of some sort so a few modernizations have been included so we know it’s going to be modern.

Cast includes Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy, Rooney Mara as Nancy, Kyle Gallner as Quentin, Katie Cassidy as Kris and Connie Britton as Marge Thompson ( Nancy mental mother).

As a person who is generally scared of most horrors I think this one will be a good one! So done forget to get in early and pre-order those Tickets!
